Knitting Pattern: Sweater
Are you interested in a new way to operate a knitting
pattern? Or are you just starting to knit and want to
learn to be really creative in the way you put together
your knitting project?
Then you are in the right place. Spincraft knitting
patterns are written so you can use any yarn, add all your
own styles, and end up with a perfectly fitting sweater.
It's a little different, makes you do a little math,
and make a few extra decisions. But in the end, knitting a
sweater with a SpinCraft knitting pattern gives you a
sweater that you can truly say is your own.
Knitting a sweater is quite a project to undertake, and
most of us want to be pretty certain that we will end up with something
we like... A sweater that fits and is attractive. That is why it is good
to take some time, before starting, to prepare for the project.

(List
of our Sweaters)
In my opinion, the most important detail of any knit garment,
is the fiber. You would never want to knit a light summer sweater out of
thick scratchy wool. And you would want a rugged, every day,
sweater to be made out of something durable and easy to clean.
But most important of all . . . I like my yarns to be nice to
touch, smell and feel. After all, I am going to be handling it
for hours and hour while I knit, and I want my knitting
experience to be pleasant.
|
That's why I like to choose my fiber and yarn
first, and then go looking for a knitting pattern. And that is
one of the reason's I started designing my own patterns, and
making them so that they would work for any size of yarn. I
don't like to be stuck to a particular type or brand of yarn
when I want to make a sweater!
The other reason I design knitted sweaters the
way I do is because I can envision so many different ways to
form knitting yarn around the human body. I want to try them
all! Below are some of my designs and tips in why I created them
the way I did.
The pictures below are links to the proper place to find the
pattern in my secure shopping cart.

One of my favorite ways to knit a sweater is from the
top down. And the easiest way to knit a sweater from the top down is
to start with a simple collar and then increase to shape the shoulders
with an even increase that creates a raglan sleeve.
Once you knit this type of sweater you'll be hooked
forever! At SpinCraftPatterns.com you will find many variations of the
Raglan Top Down sweater with different colors, and even a very exotic
Irish Cable Knit version. It's knit all in one piece and there are no
seams to sew up when you are done.

Modified Raglan Sweater Knitting Patterns
The problem is, after awhile you get tired of Raglan
Sleeves! Who the heck would want every sweater they knit and wear to
be the same shape! This next sweater, which I did in a nice lace
pattern with cotton yarn, is a great solution. It starts out with
Raglan Sleeve increases, but ends as a nice shaped fit.
You can really do practically anything with knitting!

Saddle Shoulder Sweater Knitting Patterns
One of the coolest things around is the Saddle
Shoulder Sweater. This sweater has a strip of knitting right down the
shoulder to the sleeve. It really fits great!
Starting a Saddle Shoulder at the top is real easy to
do. This is a great project for the creative knitter. If you have any curiosity
about how to create knitting shapes you have to try this pattern!

|
There are a million ways to knit a sweater from the
bottom up! But that doesn't mean you have to knit them in pieces.
Almost all my designs are knit-to-fit all in one piece.
One thing you should really try is the saddle shoulder
versions knit from the bottom up. What that means is that the sweater
isn't shaped all the way to the very top. Instead, you stop about the
collar bone, knit the sleeve, and then join it all together with a
lively knitted band. Very fun to do! And the shape will fit nicely
too.
Our shopping cart has some very creative ways to make
great fitting sweaters that start down at the bottom.

|
Have you ever wondered: Gee, I wish I could just start
a sweater at one sleeve, and end up down at the tip of the final
sleeve?
Well, you can! Take a look in our shopping cart!
You'll love it!

Every once in awhile there is a reason not to knit a
sweater in one piece! So you will find that I do have a few creative
patterns that are knit in pieces.
